Fusion Dance
Bellyfusion
Bellyfusion, formerly called tribal fusion, is rooted in traditional belly dance and has evolved over the past fifty years by incorporating elements from many different disciplines: flamenco, Indian dance schools, hip-hop and contemporary dance. Often more grounded and precise, less ethereal than traditional oriental dances, it is built on isolations — moving certain body parts while keeping others completely still — and on fluid movements such as arm or body waves. Dancers also frequently use props: veils, fanveils and zills.

Beyond technique, the class puts a strong emphasis on storytelling, community and mutual support between dancers. It is open to teenagers from 15 years old and to adults, whatever their level.
