About the style

Bellyfusion (formerly called tribal fusion) is a style of dance that was originally rooted in traditional belly dance and has evolved over the past fifty years or so by incorporating elements from many different dance disciplines. Influences typically include flamenco, different Indian dance schools, hip-hop and contemporary dance, but can vary a lot depending on the individual dancer. It is often more grounded and precise, less ethereal, than traditional oriental dances. Typical constant elements are isolations, i.e. moving certain body parts or muscle groups while trying to keep others completely still, and fluid movements, like arm or body waves. Fusion dancers also frequently use props such as veils, fanveils, zills and even fire! In addition to technique, there is also a big emphasis on storytelling, community and mutual support between dancers.

About me

Nathalie discovered bellyfusion over twenty years ago, studying with her mentor Sarah Chebaro in Antwerp. Over the years, she branched out as an amateur of many different dance styles, like tap, jazz, contemporary and ballet. She kept coming back to her original passion though, frequently traveling abroad to attend workshops and retreats with teachers like Sarah Chebaro (BE), Kremushka (RU), Loundjah (FR) and Kira Lebedeva (UKR). Since 2023, she’s been building a local bellyfusion community in Luxembourg by teaching classes and organising events.

Lola Galli

Lola Galli

Maria Cipriano

Born in Mozambique and raised in Luxembourg, Maria Cipriano began jazz dance at the Conservatoire de la Ville de Luxembourg, where she graduated with a 1er Prix. She went on to train as a professional dancer in Paris, where she obtained her French State Diploma as a jazz dance teacher, and started her professional career with several young dance companies in France.

Her artistic path continued in Spain and Germany, where she turned more towards contemporary dance. Since then her work has been divided between the stage and teaching, two fields that feed and enrich each other.

In 2014 Maria settled permanently in Luxembourg, where she works as a dancer with Luxembourgish choreographers and dance companies. Alongside the stage, she passionately pursues her teaching with students of all ages and levels in various dance schools.

Her teaching draws on her experience as both a dancer and a teacher: passing on the pleasure of dancing, building self-confidence and supporting each student along their own artistic path.

I teach within professional training, as a dance teacher and sports coach.

I discovered classical ballet and jazz in 1984, at a private school in Esch/Alzette. Hooked from the very first minute, I soon felt the urge to pass it on, which led me to study jazz dance at the Conservatoire de la Ville de Luxembourg and to attend workshops abroad on a regular basis.

In 2004 a passion for fitness was added to my passion for dance. From 2006 to 2019 I trained in several cardiovascular and strength-training disciplines. In 2026 I completed a basic Hatha Yoga training (100 hrs).

Movement, and dance in particular, has always been for me a stronger and more powerful means of expression than language. It is a way of feeling yourself, body and mind, a way of dealing with your emotions.

The Fitness/Jazz class brings together the artistic, expressive side of dance and the sporty, energising character of fitness. It is open to people of all ages and all levels of experience, under the motto “sweat and smile”.
